While the world reels under the onslaught of COVID-19 and India advances in its fight against it, the Don Bosco Network reached out in support of the cause by educating the nearby community about the prevention of the COVID-19 infection. This community of migrant labourers made their homes under the Palam flyover (New Delhi) after their dwellings in a slum were razed to the ground two years ago. Don Bosco Network is actively engaged with the children of this community.
On 19 March 2020, the Don Bosco Network staff conducted a COVID-19 awareness drive among 40 children and their families in this community. Ms. Sonia explained the various precautions they needed to take and demonstrated safety practices to be followed. She also explained the symptoms of the infection and when to reach out for medical help. Posters were used to effectively communicate the desired behaviors to the community.
We truly hope that the awareness helps this extremely vulnerable community.
