COVID-19 RELIEF OPERATIONS: DBDS and MGL Reaches Out to 10,000 Poor and Needy in Mumbai
Mumbai, 4-April-2020: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) in a joint collaboration with Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) is reaching out to 10,000 people from informal and unorganised sector including migrant workers, street side vendors, drivers, house maids, daily wage construction workers, porters, food cart sellers, etc.
Through the relief work DBDS and MGL will provide one-month ration of food items, toiletries and hygiene kits for such marginalized population in various slums across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. On the first day 500 relief kits were distributed in the campus of Don Bosco Matunga to the beneficiaries from the areas of Antop Hill, King Circle, Wadala and Matunga.
Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) along with DBDS staff and number of volunteers did all the arrangements for this covid-19 relief operations. While doing this relief operations: social distancing and all the other government compliance’s were strictly adhered to. Fr D’Mello speaking on the occasion said, “We are thankful that we could help. I also place on record my sincere thanks to MGL for sponsoring this project.”
