A Capacity Development Training for Don Bosco Development Society Calcutta (DBDOC)

Bosconet, the network of 11 Don Bosco Planning and Development Offices (PDOs) across India, plays a crucial role in consistently enhancing the capacity of its partner organizations in various skill domains. One of its core responsibilities is to empower its constituent partners with continuous skill development.

In pursuit of this objective, Bosconet organized a comprehensive four-day proposal writing training workshop – ‘Write for the Good 2023” for the Salesians and collaborators of Don Bosco Kolkata Province from 25.09.2023 to 28.09.2023 with the support of Don Bosco Mission Bonn, and Misiones Salesianas, Madrid. This program was a practical, hands-on workshop focused on the technicalities of writing effective proposals for community development projects. Its primary aim was to equip the Salesians and collaborators with the essential skills necessary for creating impactful community development project proposals, thereby enabling positive transformations in the communities.

A total of seventeen Salesians and staff of the Don Bosco Province Kolkata actively participated in this session. The workshop covered a diverse range of topics, including the key components of a community development proposal, techniques for problem identification, cause-and-effect analysis, various tools for problem analysis, objective analysis, strategy analysis, the significance of well- defined SMART objectives, distinctions between goals and objectives, monitoring & evaluation, risk analysis, activity schedule, budget, sustainability, etc. Additionally, the training delved into the intricacies of baseline surveys, survey tools, question formulation, and question types.

The four-day session at ”NITIKA”, Don Bosco Provincial House, Kolkata was graced on 25 September 2023 by the presence of distinguished guests, Rev. Fr. Pauria, Sdb, the Provincial of Kolkata, Fr. Santhanam (Director, BOSCONET- Don Bosco Network -South Asia), Fr. Jijo John, the Provincial Economer of Kolkata Province and Director of Don Bosco Planning and Development Office of Kolkata. The guests and participants were welcomed, highlighting the program's objective of enhancing project-writing skills and emphasizing the importance of crafting persuasive proposals. Appreciation was extended to Bosconet for taking this noble initiative. The Director of Bosconet outlined program objectives and introduced the experienced trainer, Mr. Louis Manohar, with 17 years of positive contributions to Don Bosco. Active participation was stressed for effective project writing skill development.
